Size: A medium-sized hawk, but still a large bird at 17-24 inches in length with a wingspan of 32-50 inches

Weight:  About 18 ounces 

Where to look for the red-shouldered hawk: Look high up in the trees, especially near our ponds.  Sometimes you will see them in the air soaring majestically as they hunt.

Diet:  Whether sitting up in the trees or soaring through the air, the red-shouldered hawk is hunting for small mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and large insects.
