Great White Egret

Size: Very large, 37-41 inches long with a wingspan of about 4 ½ feet.

Weight: less than 4 pounds

Where to look for the Great Egret:  In the shallow water of our ponds, where they patiently wait for fish to come within range

Diet: Mainly fish, but they will also eat frogs, crustaceans, lizards, snakes, or even aquatic insects.  Searches for food during the daylight hours.

Songs and calls:  A guttural croak
